Well all know what that is. VH1, E, Access Hollywood, tabloids, PopEater, Perez Hilton, TMZ, the internet as a goddamn whole. These things all make me physically ill. It makes me lose all faith in mankind.

My main thing is how superficial everyone's perceptions have become regarding... everything. But mostly beauty, what it means to be a human being and what it means to coexist with other human beings. It's like who gives a sh*t, we can all just be as obnoxiously douchebaggy as humanly f*cking possible and it'll be fine and dandy right?

I really hate heterosexual males it makes me want to cut my d*ck off. Here's a little random stupid thing from AOL (presenter of many stupid things) which I clicked because I was bored, the comments here just sickens me.

It really is beating a dead horse (no pun intended), is it really that hard to accept that some women find her attractive because of her confidence? Not because of her physical appearance? Some people interpret "sexyness" as not really being a physical appearance thing.

Is it such a TERRIBLE CRIME that a not so attractive woman can get by in hollywood and have a sense of confidence?

On a similar note, I really am disturbed by the complete anhilation of social edequete in modern culture, no respect for anyone and raging douchewads tear down women all the time especially those who are not considered sexually desirable. And yet we wonder why there are so many whores and plastic surgery addicts, who we also love to ridicule. We contribute to this never ending cycle of cynicism and bullying and pop culture desensitization and it's just gonna make us more f*cking stupid as time goes on.

"everyone's" perceptions regarding "everything?" cut this shit out - people are not possessed by a huge god damn hive mind. plenty of people realise "pop"/material culture is full of shit. believe it or not every individual has a CHOICE to compare themselves to the body images, personality types, roles, etc., that they are presented with, or not to. it's up to each individual to choose their own standards/role models and values for themselves. obviously most just take the default and use what society presents them with. they don't realise that the choice is theirs (uneducated) or they're stupid; or they are surrounded by so many people endoctrinated in the predominant material cultural values (look good, get money, bling bling etc etc) that it's overwhelming to change. i suppose this is what you're bitching about mainly. i view those who unthinkingly accept such cultural values with contempt as well, but it doesn't change the fact that the choice is theirs.

"so many" whores and plastic surgery addicts? well on the subject of "whores," (you do realise that by using this term instead of say, prostitute or sex worker, you are supporting the negative treatment of those people) how do you know there are more now relative to another time period? even talking about sex workers has little to do with self-esteem damaged by society's/men's harsh standards: do you think Sally dropped out of college and became a prostitute because her brother and his friends ragged on her jew nose? because all the women on billboards are hotter than she is? not likely. i'm guessing people get involved in the sex trade because: 1. they're poor and don't have better options, 2. they're forced, or 3. they don't have a problem fucking for cash.

plastic surgery has never been as available as it is now (i should expect). that's probably why so many people use it.

"The choice is theirs" really is the worst excuse ever. I realise that they make the choice, I'm not saying it's brainwashing so much as that people who really get satisfaction on spending their days insulting people more successful and attractive than they are are just collectively stupid wastes of air. I'm not just blaming pop culture for this issue but everyone really.

It's not that people find her unattractive which is understandable, it's how people use that to attack her character, someone they don't even know. And I know that TMZ and Popeater is f*cking trash, but the people who comment there are terrifyingly real people and it amazes me that they can HATE a woman for being unattractive.

Well I know a lot of people my age really are like that in the real world. Again that's desensitization, we're used to all the offensive stuff so we become less restrained in our daily lives and no longer care about the negative effects of wreckless language, it's all about being cool.


I'm not really saying we are worse off now than before, though we really are. But I'm saying that probably most men are either to stupid to realise the consequences of their behavior and how it effects women and society as a whole or rather they just don't care because that comes with the job of being frat boy scum.

There's a lot of women with obvious self esteem issues, it's why they become attention whores and thrive for something to fill in the emotional void. Yeah, I do think women like that hills chick become plastic surgery addicts because they have been too often picked on for their jew nose or whatever.

Eh, you guys are being a bit harsh on boobs. It was a classically melodramatic rant, and he sort of shoots himself in the foot when he feels the need to pile shit on 'whores', but he also hits on plenty of points. And all the personal jibes are kind of petty...

There is an unreasonable beauty standard held in place for women, and the bile that gets thrown at women who don't live up to it can be pretty remarkable at times. And a lot of women let this sort of bullshit really mess with them and their self esteem. Sure they have a choice not to, but when you're conditioned with this stuff from birth it's not so easy. It doesn't make me lose faith in humanity, but it's worth recognising the ways in which modern society is kind of shitty.

Plus, I will be a pedant and point out that anti-semitism refers specifically to jews, regardless of the other races that speak semitic languages.

Wow, melodramatic thread for a relatively small issue. Honestly, you're complaining about a very small issue. Yes, if you read Cosmo and TMZ, watch People on television and consider Hollywood films an accurate mirror of society, well then you're rant is completely justified.

However, out in the real world, the rest of us have other stuff to worry about. I don't know a SINGLE woman who feels pressure from magazines and internet forums to be thin and gorgeous; mostly because we all grew out of that when we were teenagers and realized that there were more important things to focus our energy on. And if any grown woman actually DOES let her self-image be defined by airbrushed magazine photos and bored internet personalities, then they're pathetic. It becomes a problem when these losers pro-create and pass their self-obsessed petty insecurities onto their children and convince them this crap actually matters; but even then they should be able to snap out of it after a few years out on their own in the real world.

I'd recommend you spend your time compiling a rant about issues that ACTUALLY matter to society. I'm sure you could find many other alternatives.
