Dad of a fallen Marine perseveres against protests at military funerals - Yahoo! News
I want to pull my hair out. It's not wonder religion gets such a bad rep. |

Fred Phelps is a fucking retard.
the first paragraph in his wiki entry pretty much sums it up. his church is monitored as a hate group. he's banned from the UK. he's been disbarred as a lawyer. there are claims that 60 of the 71 members of his church are related to him also. i mean his "church's" website is actually godhates***s.com - for real. little to nothing he or his 'church' members say should be taken with any merit by anyone with a worthwhile clue in their head. |

I've never understood these morons. Even if you try and take a step back to at least attempt to understand their point of view, whether you agree with it or not, i think its very hard to justify their actions and the way they choose to try and get their points of view across.
But wherever there is free speech, there is a right for these creatures to do whatever they want as long as they don't break the law. And protesting military funerals isn't breaking the law, even if it is disgusting. |

Fred Phelps can't even wrap around the fact that God hates no one.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

speaking of funeral protesters there's a fake church in kansas who are racist (it's so stupid) against nebraska. it's a huge scam they get tax money for calling themselves a church and they get to sue when they piss off someway and that person reacts, four elmwood kids died in a car crash while heading to a national honor choir thing. the (fake) church protested nebraska at their funeral and said the kids were sacrifices for the evil of nebraska, how fucked up is that? it wouldn't surprise me if westburro is the same thing, unfortunately they do their scam apparently in a way that's "legal" so trying to fight it is stupid.

The Westborro Church people are just real-life trolls. They like the attention and the confrontation they get from the public and the media. Not to mention the money that results from that attention. So, you can do counter-protests or yell at them or talk about how horrible they are, that's how they get their jollies. But if you stop giving them the attention they crave, they wouldn't be too thrilled about that at all.
