To me, the religion that has become the most institutionalized is Christianity. For example, you can flip on the TV to a religious channel almost everyday of the week and see one of those right-winged televangelists preaching the hell out of the Bible. And I believe that these people get paid to do that, whereas your neighbourhood church minister does not. Sorry, not for me. |

Religion fascinates me, and I think it would be amazing to wholly commit to a religion someday, but right now if any sort of higher power exists, it would be of no relevance to my life. My happiness is currently defined by my relationships with other people and earthly things, disgusting and materialistic as it may sound -- I don't need a god to tell me how to break bread. I can butter it pretty well myself, thankee.

I feel completely content with my life as an agnostic. In fact, I am willing to bet I feel more fulfilled than many religious people. Life is still such a wonderful mystery to me and part of its wonder is knowing that I will never know exactly what is going on here...most likely even at death. I am still able to look at so many things with childlike curiosity that the world will never be dull to me. I feel like that aspect of life is lost with a religious doctrine.

We'll die trying. Of course God had to get to his authority somehow, so it's our hard work to push ourselves as hard as we can so when we die, it'll be happy no matter who has to argue with your salvation.
