Why are there so many races?

Shouldn't there just be one? I mean, what has to happen for a different race to begin in the first place. I can't think of one logical reason.

there is only one. it's called the human race.

ideological beliefs masking fear are what cause division based on colour and culture.

It has a lot to do with evolution and climate.

I'd also like to quote that old cliche saying and just say that the world would be boring if everyone was the same.

A world without hot asian chicks is not worth living in. :(

Multiple geographic isolations of populations in the past, and varying dispersals of these around the planet at different times, experiencing different climates and conditions which have affected evolution of traits differently. Race is a risky term to use though as there's so many different definitions in science. We are all Homo sapiens though, which came from a small population in Africa around 200,000 years ago and colonised the World from there, although there are controversial (and likely untrue) theories that East Asian populations evolved from an ancestor which lived in the region, different from the rest of the World. It's pretty much rubbish though.

Asian people are actually aliens bent on world domination, you heard it here first.
