Having a near death experience does not equal being dead.
A near death experience may include some rather extravagant changes in your physiology - massive amounts of hormones being released etc - while your central nervous system is still active. It makes sense that this might make for some unusual experiences relating to them.

Admit it, you enjoy destroying people's preconceptions about reality.

Heaven seems pretty boring, but opposed to burning in hell for eternity with a bunch of lawyers and serial rapists. I would probably settle for heaven.

As you know I'm not religious, but even I can sort of get the point. Heaven is infinite reward, you experience the love of God which is probably supposed to be a sweet deal even for the rest of eternity and not something we're supposed to be able to fully relate to on earth. Hell is the opposite, eternal suffering which will suck.
My point is being in heaven obviously isn't supposed to be "boring". It may be fun to trivialize the importance of either going to heaven or hell, but - and I know this may be obvious (at least I hope so) - neither of them are trivial, likely not even for eternity.

I just tell myself that when I die, I'll be able to hang out on earth and I'll be able to hang out again with all the people/animals in my life who have passed on and that, no matter what age I end up dying at, I will always look 25.

I mean if you died at 80, and you went to heaven, but you'd be an 80 year old for all eternity, that would f*cking SUCK. |
