Everyone here insults someone when they feel that it's deserved or called for.

Every regular poster does it, I'm sure you do it, and I do think it's ridiculous when some posters think us mods don't have the same freedom of expression as other members do, there's a difference between being an outright troll and insulting someone because they're being an outright troll, we're mods, but we still have the right to express our opinions on issues just as every member does.

Look its very evident why all this was created. I want people to know there aren't double standards. You chose to pick something that directly tried to subvert the debate.

I want posters to know there aren't issues of preference between the mods and the posters. Thats it.

I don't know why its in your interest to paint a divide, but I'm not going to sit back and let that take hold.

this is probably one of the biggest problems in the mod/regular relationship, and contributes most to the purported "divide". when mods constantly drop the "oh we do this for free, and you have no idea how much work we do blah blah blah", it's annoying and pointless. so you took a thankless job, get the fuck over it. if you aren't happy then quit.

Nor is it fair to suggest that despite what we do for the forum, we don't have the right to behave like a regular poster would and that we have to keep our feelings to ourselves.

Theres no divide because we do things for free, theres a divide perceived from the non-mod side that thinks we get away with murder.

That I haven't received an infraction for insulting another member is a testament to the fact that there is absolutely no special treatment being handed out.

There's only a so-called 'divide' when you say, or impose one thing, but so it yourself. That's all.

I don't know where this idea of Mods getting special treatment comes from.

No we can't be given infractions, but if I fuck up I have 10 other mods to answer to in the Mod forum to explain my actions to. and that's a much bigger deal than just getting an infraction.

Ask Boo Boo, he made a questionable comment on the forum a few days ago & was slaughtered in the mod forum for saying it.

We usually only infract members who give insults that are obviously unprovoked or way too heated or personal, or do nothing but make repeated insults.

We don't just infract everybody that says "You're a dumbass". If we did that who would be left? :laughing:

all i'm saying is that i'm tired of seeing mods cry about their responsibilities. i don't intend speak for anyone but myself, either.

Special treatment? I know from 1st hand experience that quite the opposite is the case.

tl;dr

100% this. i can't think of a single post i've read by DH that was worth anything.

it's the politically correct double edged sword of a public forum. you have to be open and inviting to everyone then watch as a few clowns just crap all over everything with their inanity but as long as they're within the 'rules' then you can't really do anything besides try to ignore the idiocy. which in turn lowers the overall quality of the site, attracts less people with something substantial to say and just fosters more foolishness.

it's especially detrimental because coddling these kind of posters and protecting their behaviour under the guise of 'public freedom' while they act out on a 'private forum' is a turn off to most posters who have something worthwhile to post (unless i'm mistaken there's one person out there who actually pays for this site to exist on a server somewhere).

then again some people like quantity over quality. i've got bookmarks for both, this site gets more posts in a day than my quality site gets in a week.

I've lashed out at Darkest Hour myself, because when you say stuff that is so absolutely ridiculous while calling other people ignorant and closedminded, you kinda deserve a few negative reactions.
