I was being sarcastic and creating a parody. But I guess it's difficult to comprehend sarcasm across computer screens

Oh dear lord, they can play Pacman? God help us all if they ever learn how to play Super Mario Bros, the human race will be doomed.

Less ignorance and smilies will help you with that. Plus if anyone knew you at all, how do I know you're not an idiot? I've never really seen you post.

I feel like we are the most terrible creatures to have inhabited this planet. Sure, the benefits of being as complexly structured as we and as our society are plentiful, but where is the balance here? Why can't we manage to get together and give as much as we've received from Earth? We will die because we think we hold superiority over any other living thing on this planet, because we think we own this planet.

Dramatic enough for you?
I agree with some of this... the lack of respect and communication with each other.... being far from in touch with ourselves. I feel like the western world is lacking understanding... compasion.
I also feel like we live in a world of utter superficiality and we do think we are superior and own the planet.

The demise of the human race is something I used to often ponder.... at times the thought would scare me, depress me at others... I try not to think about it anymore.. it's out of our hands.

Ignorance is subjective, so it's your perception and threshold for statements are what make them ignorant. My only critique is that I should have put "lol" afterward. My reason for the parody was because I find the entirety of the concept of the world coming to its apocalypse in 2012 to be highly blasphemous. From a scientific point of view, it is deemed nonsensical, from an astrological point of view it is seen as the beginning of a new era. The Mayan calendar isn't even a definite source as the true meaning behind its abrupt halt is unknown. From a Christian point of view, it also doesn't make sense, because if I remember correctly, during the apocalypse there is supposed to be 7 years of tribulation followed by another 7 years of greater tribulation (or is it 6 and a half? I can't recall). I just find the idea of the world coming to an end on December 22nd, 2012 to be absolutely absurd. Not even religion believes it, and I find religion to be the most far fetched of all ideologies, because aren't we not even to know when the 2nd coming will take place? Even if there is a 2nd coming at all? Nothing truly adds up...

Not taking into account the outside influences like black holes, asteroids and klingon invasions, while a constant threat, they have always been a threat since our planet's existance and I have no reason to believe they're gonna effect us anytime soon.

My only real concerns are the things already going on with our planet. Climate change, shifting of the magnetic poles, solar storms, superviruses, nucclear warfare, dying resources, blah blah blah.

Do you think we'll still be here in a million years? Or at the very least a thousand?
I think the human race will be wiped out after Judgement Day. Nothing else really would work from my religious perspective.

Judgement Day?

This looks like a job for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.

In the absence of any single "event" (asteroid, super-nova, uncontrolled nukes, etc..) I think mankind will continuously adapt to enviornmental changes, natural disasters and bio threats. There will be times many people will die, but the "up side" of that is population reduction. Overpopulation is a threat in itself. Our lives are a "blink of an eye" as far as total history goes, and the future? Nobody really knows.

I don't ever believe in the extinction of the human race. First off, there is no positive reason as to why someone should believe in the termination of humanity. What does that belief do to benefit you? Nothing.

Humanity, being a collective term, doesn't have much to do with the individual. Humanity could die, but as long as I am here, I will try to live to old age. If humanity dies after I die, then why should I care?

I am not saying that humanity can't terminate. I am just asking why should we believe that we will be extinct?
