For crying out loud I can't believe this is actually a matter of debate, you really think they could have just fooled everybody like that?
This is the 1960s we're talking about, not the era of photorealistic special effects. |

Well, in defense of conspiracy theorists, the US did and still does have the largest and most proficient movie/special effects capability. Btw, have you seen 2001: A Space Odyssey? which featured seemingly unreal SFX and was filmed nearly 2 years before the Apollo 11 mission. While I still believe we did in fact land on the moon, the idea that the American government would lie and cover up such an operation, especially under the given circumstances is too legitimate to completely shut down. It just makes too much sense. However, without sufficient hard evidence, I am forced to believe that the moon landing did indeed really happen.

They had a few missions that went to the moon before Appollo 11, it is possible that they used that certain footage from those missions. Like The Ranger and The Surveyor Program it is possible that NASA edited those images into the first Lunar Landing until they had the technology to land a man on the moon.

You can say the moon landing was a conspiracy... I will say that your a idiot... Along with the other 20% of americans that think this is a sham. I bet we dont even fight in iraq, thats probably fake too...
In short the moon is a valuble asset for the earth.. not so much for man to build up... and if you were paying even more attention to the news there are talks of going back to the moon... However time is not an issue, there is no rush. Also if it was just film and not real, why the hell didnt apollo 13 just do some studio work and really jam it down the Soviets throats?? Now when the world is going to be demolished by a freaking comet and money is nothing... Im sure we will all hop on the mothership... Until then Drop it.

If someone has that belief that it was a conspiracy, that's on them, it doesn't seem proper to call them an idiot. I'm more curious in what people believe, what they think about Apollo 11, not what they think of other people. This topic is about if Apollo 11 did or didn't land on the moon, and evidence one has to offer to prove one's point - it's not about name calling. I saw a stat on the lunar landing it it is only 6% not 20% for Americans that does not believe man landed on the moon. take care Last edited by Neapolitan; 08-14-2009 at 01:55 PM. |

Why do you believe we're not able to send people to the moon? There's been 20-something people up there. It's not that NASA scientists forgot their papers somewhere and now can't figure out to do it anymore. In case you don't know, sending people to the moon puts lives at risk and costs money and if there's nothing new and important for them to do up there, then there's really no point.
Back then, there was political pressure to send people up there. JFK said in a speech in 1961 that they would safely send americans to the moon by the end of the decade and there was the space race with the soviets that upped motivation .. On top of that you could sprinkle some interest in scientific discovery and a general pioneering spirit. Anyways, unsure if it's been mentioned so far in this thread, but there was actually a Mythbusters episode where they brought up several of the popular "hoax proof" myths that supposedly give evidence to the hoax hypothesis .. Of course all of them were debunked giving more credibility to the landing as being real. Not that Jamie and Adam are authorities on what's true or not, but it was a fun episode. Anyways, there's little doubt in my mind. The landing was real and I think people who don't believe in it are silly and sad for discrediting one of the most amazing accomplishments of our history. Especially you americans should be proud of the lunar landing.

You can argue against the point if you'd like. But you may notice a little bit later in the thread that I take everything back. Haha. |
