Yep, I also enjoy S Colbert, but like Mindfulness, limited to what is uploaded to Youtube. Most often, I just watch his monologue; fairly short, well-written and a quick take on the issues of the day.

Kimmel, and Meyers' "Closer Look" also turn up on Youtube but are not as funny as Colbert imo. Both of them make the mistake of cutting to an "off-stage" straightman who is completely unfunny: Kimmel has a plump Latino guy, Meyers a guy holding up prompt cards, but for me they add nothing to the humour of the segments.

well, this is very hurtful to us Brits!

Actually, I'm always impressed by Americans' willingness to laugh along with J Oliver, even though he is so often ridiculing something going on in the US. John Oliver wears on me too, though: not the accent, but the constant call to feel angry, then more angry, then even more angry, but I suppose that's inevitable when he is, quite rightly, exposing the injustices of the world.

Yeah, I don't care who criticizes America - as long as you make it funny. Which is I suppose the big difference between Oliver and Colbert.

I think he occasionally does some funny interviews as well. I was gonna say he's got The Roots as well, but then realized that's actually Fallon.

Well, that clip really makes your point, SGR! Complete filler material, embarrassing to someone like me who has just been singing Colbert's praises. My tip: stick to the monologues, which have more actual jokes per minute.

Good points on Colbert and Conan. Conan is hilarious and I like Colbert mostly for his interviews. The other hosts are easily forgettable. Though Fallon's hashtag segments are pretty good.

I used to watch Craig Ferguson compliations of him flirting with his female guests but it seemed weird after awhile. He tiptoed the line between casual flirting and being kind of creepy. I don't understand the power dynamic between host and interviewee. I feel like if they were truly uncomfortable they could just get up and leave but then again maybe it would look bad for whatever media they were promoting. It used to look like he had so much Rizz but when I look back at it again the power dynamic might've been in play making the scenarios kind of sketch.

Yeah I like Colbert more when he was a character on Colbert Report I don't really follow his regular stuff anymore. I will watch the occasional segment here and there but really don't care. Agree with John Oliver take but I don't mind his accent. He can't help it.

John never wears on me. I love everything that he does and the information that his team brings up. I tend to learn a lot from his shows. I feel like he balances the whole feeling angry thing with the segments/skits near the end of the show and some of the rl stuff he does like getting a town named after him.

I think Conan was definitely my favorite late night host.

Certainly looking at it nowadays I can definitely see your point. There are times where I'll be watching an interview of his and he gets a little "handsy" and seems to get a little personal with the guests. Or sitting uncomfortably close or stretching himself out to where his legs are close to the guest. I'd hope he's not a creepy guy at all but he definitely gives off that vibe.
