South Carolina governor Mark Sanford who went missing admits affair - Telegraph

How he was ever elected Governor is well beyond my understanding. Failure at this level should have seen him beaten by every other candidate in the field.

I loved how over the past couple of days every time I visited cnn.com the story about this situation changed in some new an hilarious way. Basically, these are the stories I read, in order:

South Carolina governor is nowhere to be found.
No worries, he was just on an impromptu hiking trip on the Appalachian Trail.
Actually he was in Argentina.
Oh, incidentally, he was cheating on his wife with an Argentine woman.

He is a part of his state's government but like I said not a part of the US government. I'm sure this sounds like serious hair-splitting to you, but the way things are set up here, at least in theory, states are their own entities with their own constitutions and their own governments that are kind of separate from the federal government. That's why we call them states and not provinces. So while it's true that he does represent a state that is part of the US, he is not a part of my government.

in theory? Why not practice?

Sanford, with apparent exception of Elephant, has no governmental role on the members here. I'm woefully unaware of how provinces govern honestly.

I still can't get over the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger ever got elected governor... I long ago lost the ability to care about America beyond a comedic aspect.
Screw Mark Sanford.
He can rob a Dairy Queen for all I care.
