Generation Diva

What do you all think about this article: Are We Turning Our Tweens Into 'Generation Diva'? | Newsweek The Diva Generation | Newsweek.com

Do you think the children of today need some serious guidelines on how to be actually "kids"? Do you think posting pictures like this on blogs and websites is exposing children to pediophiles and making it okay to perve?

This leads me to another question, what do people think society in years to come will be like if children are already pretending to be young adults and whoring themselves out naively?

Fruitonica 06-05-2009 08:08 AM

Definitely, I think it would be hard to deny that media exposure and society at large are sexualising young girls earlier and earlier. It's a totally unnerving trend, and quite sad as well. These girls' childhoods are being twisted by some clever marketers, just to drive a new generation of shallow consumption.

I'm not sure what it will come to beyond that, it's basically like a more extreme version of the dress ups we all used to play at, a fascination with the adult world. As you come into maturity you grow out of that phase, because it loses its allure when you have it. But the buying habits will live on.

I would rather have pervs beating off to pictures of the child than praying on the child itself.

agreed. it seems like a lot of developmental problems could be avoided if parents stopped treating their kids like show dogs.

Yeah, people complain about how much 'easier' the internet supposedly makes things for pedophiles, but I say keep the fu
ckers on the internet. Far preferable to the old-fashioned method of circling around the playground, trying to lure little Suzy into the van with some gummy worms.

I'm not sure, but let's pray it involves mass genocide. ****ing failing species.

....someone has to make the child porn for them to jerk off to. You could argue that there's an even bigger market with the internet, and so more children are lured in to making the porn. It's a bum argument regardless. All the internet porn hasn't stopped regular screwing, so I doubt it's stopped pedophiles.
