Anyway, on the topic of the OP I think like all religions is has its share crazy and/or silly crap about it. That said, one of the things I like about it, or at least it as it's practiced by most of the jews I know, is that it seems to focus more on dealing with life in the here and now as opposed to having a huge amount of focus on the afterlife. As a result I think it's practitioners generally seem to take a problem-solving approach to things instead of some absolutist pie-in-sky stuff that has no application in the real world. |
thanks

I was raised in a Southern Baptist Church, but not your typical uptight one. I was always told Jews were gods chosen people, as in its the people God first spoke through and in the end will speak through. As a Gentile I have to earn my way into his favor....
We use to have a Rabbi as a guest speaker at our church maybe every 3 months. We always had trips to Jerusalem every summer. As I i got older I always thought of Judaism as a purer more untouched religion not effected so much by man. As in the Bible being a book that has been changed and rewritten tons of times over time by lots of different Cultures. The Torah as being more sacred. In fact for years I have thought about seeing if I could convert to Judaism.... Considering I don't see Jesus as the son of God.... Maybe a great man, but its hard for me to conceive this guy claiming to be the son of god 2000 years ago, and everyone following him. We have seen that how many times now in the news? Dont they always drink the kool-aid? It would just suck not to eat pork or ever get a tattoo :) As in the Holocaust.... Jews are some of the strongest people in the world. God has tested their faith more then any other people because they are his chosen people. He is only preparing them for something greater. Least that how it was always explained to me. I really doubt other people have this view, especially others raised Southern Baptists. Just happened to be my church and my mom. |
On par with any other religion in the nonsense department.

Your post and your sig contrast.

the religion or the people? i don't really have any express feelings about the religion, and as for the people, i'd say that Jews are just as hypocritical in their faith as Christians.
did you expect a crew of anti-Semites to hang around here? |
...Take this all in the spirit in which it's intended which is of course antisemitic:
What I like about the Jews as a culture, this being the North American Jew of course not the crazy Jews in Israel, is that they have their **** together. Heavy emphasis placed on education and family. This usually leads to successful well adjusted productive members of society. As a lot of people smarter then me already pointed out, all religions are kooky, if you're going to pick one at least pick the one with the sterotype of being Wealthy and Powerful living in a gated community not the one with the sterotype that makes you a chauvinistic suicide bomber living in the desert. So you're a little cheap... Quote:

Anyway, I had a Jewish friend who made a lot of antisemitic jokes which rubbed off on me. But I don't mind the Jews whatsoever. Holocaust is bad, of course, I thought we would've learned from then that you can't let genocide happened, but even though we say we won't- well now I'm getting preachy. |
i have a Jewish roommate that makes a lot of homophobic remarks.
bit of a twat if you ask me. |

Are you being serious? I'm not asking anything, my post had nothing to do with any of Surells posts.

Girls don't like that.
It's better if they like it. |

damn, for some reason i thought it was more prevalent than that. strange.
|
How did I know before I even peeked inside this thread that this discussion would wind its self down to the proper care and hygiene of a penis?
|
Opinions are mixed on circumcisions, there is a link to uncircumcised men and some sort of cancer, pardon my ignorance\bad memory, Lucifer Sam is right there is a higher risk of infection in uncircumcised men.
When my son was born we we're told it was our choice and it sort of laid out the details, when my grandson was born his parents were told they should have it done. Long and short from what I gather It's not essential, but it doesn't hurt (pardon the expression) to have it done. |

Removing any form of non-harmful flesh from a child against it's will is mutilation and anyone who has their child circumcised should be jailed.
