Post Please read this short essay on the genocide in Darfur.

GENOCIDE
Many people are unaware of the atrocities of modern-day genocide. After Rwanda, the entire world seemed to agree that it would never, ever happen again. But it did. Darfur is a bit of a popular cause, with attractive celebrities whielding hunger strikes and picket signs to promote awareness. African orphans are often associated with the likes of Brad Putt and Angelina Jolie. Intentions seem good, but genocide is a serious matter, and the common man and mainstream media seem to be doing little to help.
The technical definition for genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction in whole or in part of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group. The legal definition is as follows: “any of the following acts monited with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethincal, racial, or religious group, as such: killing members of the group, casing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting on the group’s conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part, imposint measures intended to prevent births within the group, and forcibly transferring children of one group to another group.” The genocide in Darfur started in 2003. It was declared genocide by Colin Powell. Non-government organizations claim 60,000 to 100,000 people have been killed as of 2007. The United Nations disclosed in April 2009 that the death toll may have been underestimated by as much as 50%. “Rape is used as a weapon to terrorize individual women and girls, and also to terrorize their families and entire communities.”, said Pamela Shifand, of UNICEF. “No girl is safe.”
The people of Darfur have been politically, as well as ethnically marginalized. Recently, the National Islamic Front regime has refused to protect them from the extremely violent Arab militia raids of African villages in Darfur. The Bush Administration attempted to end the conflict between the North and South parts of Sudan, and secure information from Khartoum regarding international terrorism. But because of the administrations involvement in a north-south agreement policy, there was immediate reluctance within the State Department to hold Khartoum accountable for the genocide that was unfolding in early 2004, when north-south peace negotiations began being finalized.
There are few signs of hope. The Obama Administration has acknowledged this destruction of innocent people, and it is up to free civilians like us to convince them to do something about it. You can help by making donations to human rights organizations such as STAND, UNICEF, and InterAction, but spending money is not necessary. You can help for absolutely free by contacting your elected government officials and asking them to stand up for peace in Darfur. You can educate yourself, your friends and your loved ones on this disgusting violation of basic human rights. You can involve your church or religious organization, and write local newspapers and other forms of media about the genocide. At the very least, you can keep the people of Darfur in your thoughts and prayers.
This country was built on the idea that everyone was entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. All men were created equally, and we, as Americans, have the resources to help the innocent people of Darfur. It is our duty to stand up and do whatever we can to ensure that this genocide ends, and prevent future genocide from beginning. You know what you can do to help, and it is my personal belief that as an American citizen, it is your national duty.

The White House comment line phone number is as follows:
202 -456-1111
Please call and urge the president to do something about genocide. I myself try to call at least once a day, but the message is more likely to be heard and listened to if there are more of us.
Thanks.

You clearly didn't even take the time to break up the paragraphs which suggests to me that you copied & pasted.

PM me if I'm wrong and you want to debate this but until then its locked.
