Supposedly its not that big of a deal in the United States since so many people are already resistant to a very similar strain. People in Mexico on the other hand haven't been exposed to any similar strain so its a big deal over there. So no need to fret.

I just read comcast.net (homepage) they said this:
New cases and deaths finally seemed to be leveling off in Mexico, where 160 people have been killed, after an aggressive public health campaign. But the World Health Organization said the global threat is nevertheless serious enough to ramp up efforts to produce a vaccine against the virus. So I wouldn't take it to lightly but dont lose any sleep if you get the sniffles

It seems that if you're not in Mexico you're pretty safe even if you contract it right now. Just follow standard protocol: wash your hands, use a tissue, stuff you should be doing already. Also, they cut the number of confirmed swine flu deaths in Mexico from 20 to 7, hardly seems like a huge threat when the regular flu kills something like 36,000 people a year.
