That's just hypocrisy, it happens all the time. I can't give you the answer to why we make friendly with China but were cutting off Cuba from ourselves, but I can take a swing and say we just want what China can give us as one of the largest countries in the world.

Yeah that was what I said. There's no core anti-Communist principle involved though; it all comes down to benefits and a way for the US government to justify its actions/propaganda.
