I was actually at the pub last night, and ended up debating with this bloke outside about Putin. I didn't go too far, because he mentioned his last discussion about Ukraine ended in him throwing a guy down the stairs. I'm not too well versed in the Ukraine situation, but the way Russia treats gay people and basic political freedoms is unforgivable in my eyes.

I seem to remember that, and I think he or his staff were just morons and somehow forgot to get the necessary amount of signatures to be eligible. And then of course of the Republican pundits were all, "Well he would have gotten them if he'd just remembered so he should be allowed to run in Kentucky anyway. This is all just a liberal plot!"

... And Republicans are normally in favor of making it hard for people to run for election, and hard for people to vote (or at the least, opposing bills making it easier to do so), so the fact that Newt didn't make it is both hilarious and ironic.

i dislike the homophobia as well but he's honestly just using it as a tool to harness the popular support of the ignorant masses in russia. i know that's unpleasant but its not his personal bigotry its the country as a whole and he's just tapping into it like the nazis did with anti-semitism in germany

i just admire his geopolitical swag tho i don't support homophobia and **** like that

he is certainly a cold hearted bastard

but then again so was every single ruler of russia that was ever worth mentioning
