but then you guys have more issues with immigration and that kind of **** than we do imo
What do you dislike about our immigration policies? I think the rise of nationalism and xenophobia in the country right now is extremely worrying. I don't think the current set up is as damaging as the media make it out to be.

i don't care about your immigration policy since i don't live there. i just see a bunch of people getting pissed off about it. and yea a lot of it is tribalism but guess what.. that's human nature. so i would take that as a negative impact of the immigration policy really.

the difference in outcomes is mostly a matter of geography more than policy though tbh. you have a small island and you live in relatively close proximity to a lot of impoverished nations. it's great to be humanitarian but at the same time simple math tells you that if you just open the floodgates to anyone and everyone then you'll import a good deal of poverty, and then with regards to the tribal/cultural aspect you are also importing new sources of social tension. but yea, like i said i don't live there so i don't care. just seems like common sense to me.

honestly we have the same kind of xenophobia and tribalism in our country because white people are paranoid about becoming the minority. i find that kind of hilarious tbh. but the key difference is we have a pretty good deal of land and natural resources to work with . so honestly we can import poverty and turn it into growth over time. i dunno to what extent you guys really have the capacity to do that though.

I get the distinct feeling that living in just about any first-world, Western country is about the same day-to-day. You go to work, come home, watch TV, masturbate/have sex with wife, go to sleep, wash rinse repeat. At what point in all of that does it really matter if our politics are kind of bull****? So long as I don't have to live in Africa or the Middle East then I really don't give a **** which Western country I get to live in.

I agree with that to the point that things could be worse, at least we're not living under Saudi or some such, but I loath and detest the new American Tea-Party (or whatever they're calling it) Right. There was a time that I had some degree of drudging respect for Republicans, those days are LONG gone. I would take the likes of Cameron over the new Right anyday.

They got 2,5% on a recent rating, I think. Usually they're just around 1%. Our other socialist party tends to lie around 5%.

Well in the EU we can freely move wherever we want. It actually helps the economy, by increasing the market.

The truth about immigration: it's good for Britain - Telegraph
I like knowing I can move all around the continent. I like having a multicultural society. In fact, that's one thing I admire about the US.
There are tensions right now, mainly because of UKIP. Though we don't have nearly as much of that where I live, as Scotland is largely left wing. There also aren't many black people here, largely Asians and Polish people. I think it is a bigger problem down south, though. With the big black populations in London causing a lot of unrest. Any racial tension here pales in comparison to yours though, at least recently.

I think that goes without saying, but when you're politically involved you can't help but compare. We're only just breaking away from a two party system, while I can't imagine you ever getting away from yours.
