Maybe you're generalizing people a bit too much. And again, this is about the message, not saving the environment by turning lights off for one hour. We all know it doesn't work like that. edit : I find it odd that a positive global attempt at getting people to collaborate on something as simple as turning lights off can generate so much cynicism and spite :p

i have no idea where you derived that meaning from what i said, because my message was very simple. in order to "save the planet" and truly make a difference, then you have to spend your entire life, meaining every facet of your day to day, working to improve the environment to make a difference. earth hour is just a means of placating millions of people and convincing them that their miniscule hour-long efforts are noble so they can sleep at night.

As you know, in the Lorax story, the Once-ler cuts down the entire forest to make "thneed", a garment that he thinks people need. The Lorax living in the forest tells him not to, but the Once-ler doesn't listen. After the forest is cut down, all the creatures that live there go away, the thneed factories shut down and the Once-ler is alone. It's not until that point that he realizes how wrong it was of him to cut down the trees to start with .. In other words, the Once-ler had to **** up before he could understand what the lorax meant. I thought your message was similar, that people won't get it until they've ****ed up. edit : Yeah, damn those earth guys for believing that it's possible to change things for the better :p

It just seems like an excuse to play instruments that were all made by the same thing that powers you light bulb. If you just wanna party with the lights out do me a favor lift the seat, and don't make pointless posts.

Basically, it's an awareness campaign on global warming. It does so by trying to make people shut off their lights for one day, thus showing that it is possible to do a collective effort on a grand scale. Quote:

And you can check out this site : Earth Hour I know you probably won't because you seem to think that participating in a global event in an attempt to spread a little optmism and "can-do" mentality is horribly arrogant. You're free to feel that way, but if that's how it is, could you do it somewhere else?
