Have you honestly ever seen any evidence that corporal punishment makes for comparatively nicer kids than those who are not punished physically? You can't really refer to yourself as an example, a point which has been driven home X times in this thread already.

The funny thing about your post and others who wrote similar ones like it is you explain why you're for corporal punishment. You write that you simply can't see an alternative. If you don't know anything else, what other option is there?

Obviously the only alternative is not to reward your kid with video games and computers. Saying that it is is like flaunting your ignorance.
