And then, on New Years Day 2014 I will, again crack open a cold beer and ponder the year to come...
I guess if I persist this line of posting it will get incredibly annoying, but my point is simply that these end of the world predictions never really come tto fruition, and I don't really take them terribly seriously... call me closed minded, but I really don't see alot of tangible evidence we are all headed for oblivion in 2012...

I'm 23 and I haven't done anything.
Of course I don't want my life to be cut short, just in case by some miracle it actually improves. |

I don't think the idea of death being quick and painless makes it any less terrifying.

Life is good, even when it f*cking sucks, and weither it's very painful or quick and painless, death is still death. Now I don't believe in this crap, and I honestly can't have much respect for people that do, because these are the kinda crazy people who want the world to come to an end, it makes them no different from the Christian kooks that have had their finger on the button for decades. If the world ever comes to an end, the most probable cause is a bunch of crazy religious psychos who are trying to fufill some kind of prophecy. Religion is more dangerous now than it has ever been before. It's such a cancer on the world and the sooner it dies the better. |

I don't think religion itself is malignant... it's the people's twisted interpretations that lead to assumed justification of their own horrid deeds.
I look at it the same way I look at the gun controversy. Guns themselves carry the potential to both extinguish life and save it as well. But alone, the gun won't do anything. It takes a person utilizing the gun as a tool for action to occur. And the action resulting from it is ultimately based on the will and intentions of the person. Sure, we could eradicate all guns from the face of the earth... or get rid of all religion... But the true source of devastation remains untouched. It would only be a matter of time before something else takes the place of the previous justification.

All of my apathy comments are in vain of my actual belief. I think what we have here on Earth is far too special to be obliterated in such a trivial, meaningless way. Surely humanity's last stand will echo the greatness of our species, lest we're all just characters in a cruel cosmic joke.
Of course there is always the possibility it all means nothing. To quote the great Benjamin Linus, "Destiny is a fickle bitch." |
