I am more worried about an Asteroid hitting the earth and as the last major one was 1916 and they frequent us approx evry 100 years, we are due another sometimes. Even a few metres across will cause shedloads of damage.

Is it just me or do western countries only really make a calendar for the next year when the year they're in is nearly ending? I'm sorry but on that basis and based on my current calendar, the world will end at the end of february 2009. Until I open up my new Top Gear calendar and save the world for another year.
All end of the world theories are total bollocks except for the y'know very distant ones about the sun going supernova etc.

Why do people have such a huge problem with this? Nuts will be nuts just like democrats, religious right, socialists, conservatives, liberals and libertarians will be nuts. The difference is, this doesn't affect where my paycheck goes!

Well, you're a part of the problem.
Religious fanaticism, and the fact that people will buy into this bullsh*t as long as it's repeated enough by the media, definitely should be a concern. |

Call me a cynic, but I always considered Nostradamus a kooky, strange guy who had some pretty freaky trips and wrote down some weird stuff during said trips... then caught a lucky break when some of his stuff actually sounded vaguely like some stuff that happened after his death...
The 2012 thing is most definitely bogus! If you've ever read any Nostradamus its full of very vague terminology and symbolism that makes very little sense... Blood and milk pouring from the sky anyone?

Well, I'm guessing that makes me not a cynic then!
