I am willing to bet anyone here any amount of the money that the world will still exist after 2012.

Any Takers...? Paypal is fine.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

If you think this can be justified through science you're completely out of your mind.

Planetary alignment is not that significant, we've had them more than a few times since the days of the mayans. No one is doubting the Mayans skill with astronomy, but there's absolutely no evidence that anything truly significant is gonna happen in 2012. The mayan calander simply ends on that date, the civilization didn't last forever, why should their calander?

You gotta take this into proper context, they knew a lot about astronomy. But they didn't know all the f*cking secrets to the universe, if they did, they'd probably know better than to perform human sacrifice.

And Nastrodamus, what a bunch of bullsh*t that is, just a french douchebag that made awfully vague predictions that could apply to anything you want to apply them to.

All that scientists and the mayans predicted was a planetary alignment. We've had those more than a few times during mankind's existence. And yeah, the last thing you probably want to call a valid source are f*cking astrologers.

It's snake oil science. And copying and pasting it doesn't make you smart.

Do you really think it is a coincedence that the mayan calendar, I-ching and current science all point to an astronomical event happening in 2012?

here, watch this. YouTube - Michio Kaku 2012 Solar Storm Warning and tell me there is no evidence something will happen. If a scientist says it is going to happen, chances are it will.

And why are you bringing up nastrdumbass? Nobody cares about him. That isn't even part of this argument right now. The post you quoted, you didn't even watch the video, and you are telling someone they are crazy for believing in something you can't prove wrong. I'd recommend watching both videos posted before just knocking it off.

Like I said, the astronomical event is one that's already happened several times during mankind's existance. And a planetary alignment doesn't determine anything is going happen, no self respecting scientist would believe such a thing.

Astrology has some interesting things about it, but it's mostly bullsh*t.

There are also scientists who don't believe in global warming. There are scientists who believe man lived with dinosaurs. There are scientists who believe black people are genetically inferior to everybody else.

Citing one scientist when many people in his field probably find his bablings completely batsh*t insane is a common logical fallacy.

Besides, if FoxNews is covering it, you should learn to be a bit more cynical. This guy is predicting solar windstorms, so what? We've f*cking had those before. And yes, I think the date is just a coincidence, clearly if you told this guy the kinda 2012 stuff you believe in, he'd call you crazy. He is a scientist after all.

I've seen this stuff already, it's on tv all the damn time.

What you believe in CANNOT be proven. The mayans predict a planetary alignment would happen and they ended their calander on that date, they wrote nothing else about it.

The human race evolving into giant brains and meeting our alien overlords, give me a break. It's all based on nothing but the speculation of people with way too much free time on their hands and will gladly buy into books telling them the world will end in 2016, when 2012 turns out to be the fraud it is.

Now I know not all of you think the world will end, but the people who expect some kind of spirtual awakening are the craziest of them all.

i'm not convinced about the spiritual awakening myself. Although the crop circles are interesting. And yes, i do not believe that any known normal human being cannot create those things. There are some that are just way to huge and complex to ever be created by us. So how are they there and what are they telling us? This all ties into something happening to us in the year 2012 which will result in a higher conscious. Sounds stupid but until the crop circles are proven to be fake, i won't say it isn't possible.

their calendar was made of 5 different cycles. Each consisting of 5,125 years. It didn't just end because their civilization collapsed and they couldn't keep adding to it. They obviously documented history and kept track of these events. What's really weird is that 2012 is the end of the 5th, and final cycle (known as the great cycle). That means it resets. Who knows what will happen, that is why some people think that it will be the beginning of a new age.

But then again, all of this history pointing at 2012 as a critical year for an astronomical event could all be a coiencidence and nothing noticeable will happen. Although Scientist, like i said before, are starting to believe something will happen. And it could be more significant than once thought.

These scientists would also call your belief in the 2012 hype absolute bullcrap.

This guy just believes it will happen "around" 2012, well whoopedy doo. It's also something he said happens every 11 years. And we've had satelites before 2001, I'm quite sure.
