I'd imagine it was created due to the overflowing of political threads in The Lounge. I like it though, now there's a place for fun, and a place for politics.

I'm hoping people bitch less about the amount of political discussions.

You ever notice the complainers are the reality show sect?

Haha no I have not. I personally love political discussions. Nothing is more engaging then having an intelligent discussion over worldly views with others. Especially when people can keep a level head. It's great, you really learn a lot about yourself and others.

Except that this is a music forum. It's all well and good having these threads and I have no beef with that. I just hope it's not to the detriment of the rest of the forum as I personally think there has been a decline of quality threads in the music areas.

I suppose, but I seem to find that political arguments are better here than pretty much anywhere else. I guess it's because everyone on MB is so f'n awesome.

I think the political and other off-topic threads only serve to help the overall community. It gives you a better scope of who you're talking too and where they are coming from allowing for more context surrounding the music discussions and otherwise.

People can only talk about music, like any other topic for so long, I would say the quality of music posts has gone up quite a bit actually. The Members journal and the review threads have taken the place off "generic music list" threads or "versus" threads or the godless genre arguments.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.
