The majority of people on welfare stay on welfare. So we can't let our people starve on the streets but we CAN trap them in an extremely low quality state of living with no incentive to improve their lives? Yeah, great system.

I can guarantee you there aren't two million jobs waiting out there that can support every single family in America that could be affected by that one industry collapsing. You're being an idiot in saying there is and these people just aren't looking and you have an incredibly biased view about Welfare. Welfare does give you the chance to step up and you don't have to look far to see that. Saying there's no incentive to be successful...that's just stupid. I don't deny there's problems with Welfare but the idea is good and it's good we have it getting rid of it would mean sending Americans to the streets and not allowing them a chance or even giving them a leg up. Welfare is a great thing, it gives people a chance just because you're a pessimist doesn't mean everyone else is. So I suggest you find a new argument that doesn't revolve around you being a preachy snob and telling everyone that's unemployed to get off their as
ses. Right now, in our economic climate, there isn't an incredibly amount of opportunity and if things keep going the way they are, they'll be even less. Besides, since you have such moral objections to Welfare how you can like Universal Health Care?
