Obama - The next president of the USA. ITS OFFICIAL!

Barack Obama to be America's first black president | World news | guardian.co.uk

As of right now, 338 electoral votes to 155. Barack needed 270 to win.

I'm UK, but I'm very glad of the result...if not because of the landmark, but just because it means Palin isn't VP. The womans a menace to all intelligent thought IMO.

What are your views on the result?

RoemerMW 11-04-2008 09:44 PM

Meh. I'm pretty much a political moderate. As far as social issues go (*** marriage, stem cell resarch, etc.), I'm definitely a liberal, but I honestly don't have enough economic knowledge or experience to have a valid opinion.

I vote that this should be the last thread in which American politics can be discussed during the next four years.

If so, then you must find something else that will stir up as many arguments.

Ditto. Even though I'm in Aus. It's still very important to me.

ProggyMan 11-04-2008 10:50 PM

It's not official.

Ummmm yes it is. The speeches have already been given and McCain conceded.

Or are you just generally being a finicky bastard because he hasn't had an inaugauration or whatnot yet?

It isn't official because all votes have not been counted. If every remaining vote is for McCain, then he will still win. The results are unlikely to change, but it isn't official until all votes are counted.
