Not to mention that both McCain and Obama are both pretty moderate. Both parties seek to highlight their candidates differences, but usually they don't even begin to bear any relevance to the candidate's ability to govern. The social issues really bring this to light. For example, it doesn't really matter what McCain's position on abortion is, he's not going to be able to enact legislation to overturn Roe v. Wade. In reality, most of what you interpret as "huge differences" are really just ways to sell the candidate. The public's perception of a candidate matters waaaaaaaaaaay more than issues that are relevant to his presidency. Ethan, naivety might be adorable when you're a kid, but if you don't grow a sense of cynicism soon, you're apt to die of exasperation.

If someone says, "I love John McCain because he lets me use the guns" and someone else says, "Go to Hell" then it pretty much ends there. There is no mass riot, no coup d'etat, no massacre of people who are outspoken. Quote:
Their interest positions pretty much conform to the views their respective political parties want to convey. No matter who wins, there will be thousands and thousands of civil servants telling them what to do. So, no matter who gets elected, there will be an Iron Triangle of some sort. People argue that John McCain's looking out for big oil and that's probably true, but you can't assume (based on that alone) that Barack Obama wouldn't treat certain businesses like constituents because that's just ignorant.

Okay I'm being naive but all you did was talk about McCain's stance on abortion (while not mentioning Obama's stance) and say they're the same because they're both moderates. You still haven't explained how their tax proposals are the same, their stance on health care are the same, their stance on Iraq is the same, their stance on the economy, etc etc etc. How about you actually answer my question before calling me naive and acting all high, mighty and more intelligent? |

You basically just said they're both backed by major corporations. Yeah both parties are but that doesn't change the fact they have several key differences which apparently aren't differences at all and I just need to open my mind.

Honestly, the candidates can say anything, so arguing about this stuff is pretty fruitless. All we can really go on are the candidates' past experiences and how they act while running.
Right now, with Barrack Hussein Obama continuing to withhold the documents the court has asked for, there's a very real question about whether he's even qualified to RUN. ~~> [And before you jump me about that, what you posted is a Certificate of Live Birth (as opposed to an actual birth certificate) and there are numerous indications that it is a forgery. (No signature, no embossed seal, etc.)] i can't imagine what his problem is with producing the originals, but until he does, he's pretty much an illegal alien running for the highest office in this land. i've had to show my birth certificate as ID before. i didn't exactly 'have it on me,' and the job or school or whatever it was that wanted the ID? Hey, they didn't just welcome me aboard, slap me on the back, and give me all the time in the world to provide it ~ it was put up or get out. And i'm really sorry, but that just bothers me.
