What was the difference between Clinton and Bush?

Things change, just not because of who is president.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

Well put, brainwashed however I feel gives the political system too much credit. Disinterested lethargic and apathetic is my explanation.

So there's two things going on here. You've been through ten elections and you either think that: Taxation hasn't changed or it's changing has been irrelevant to who was elected. Interesting.

Lol, because it doesn't matter where were at war all wars are the same right?

4. We will be in debt
Um, we're going to be in debt for a long time and HAVE been in debt for a long time I don't think either McCain or Obama has said "I'm going to get rid of the national debt!" Besides didn't the national debt go up a couple trillion over the past eight years?

5. Dependency on foreign oil will still be a reality
Except Obama actually cares about weening ourselves off it, unlike McCain who plans to "drill, baby, drill!" and keep the oil coming.

Obama plans to budget for education, McCain doesn't intend to spend any more than what is currently being spent.

As they should. We were founded on immigration.

Very vague responses all laughable to me when evaluated in actions rather then words.

tax plans:
Under Clinton I was taxed 37.9% of my income for an eight year average under Bush 38.3% in seven years. It's gone up slightly almost every year since the Carter administration.

stance on welfare: In words only, welfare reform is a joke and enforced on a case by case basis. Welfare itself is an awful failure.

spending budgets: Only substantial difference is money spent on war. And that doesn't effect you unless you have considerable money tied up in wall street.

Policies with foreign Nations: This one is true in the case of Clinton v Bush, Clinton was a whiz with people. Still it's a difference in perception mostly and I could care less what other countries think of the United States.

If you really think about your own life, how much of a difference does who the president, governor, mayor really make?

Ethan you're clueless. The good new is Obama will win the election and you'll see in four or eight years how naive your opinions in 2008 were.

As for taxes you didn't follow my process. Taxes have been raised slightly nearly every year since the 70's. They always have cuts and breaks but it's like when a gas station sells buy one get one free cigarettes but it's $6 and a single pack of cigarettes is only $4.50. They mark up the price before they give the discount.

So what about pre-Carter? Wouldn't you say the jump to Carter made an impact on this field thus proving your previous point false?

Welfare helped me throughout my childhood. I think having actually lived dependent on it for a good portion of my life means it hasn't totally failed me. But thats an argument from emotion and not a logical point so I'll stop there.

Can you provide statistics on welfare and point out how, where, and why its failing?

Money spent on war is pretty big. 1.8 billion a week isn't exactly chump change.
