I'm not disagreeing with you, it's a moot point anyway. If you're even going to entertain the possibility of a supreme being then associating him with everyday human characteristics is the last thing you want to do. Besides if we could grasp an understanding of the God he'd have nothing on us *-)

Well yes, if you accept all the dubious information in the Bible, God is probably having enough fun torturing us like ants to get bored... but if you have a more theistic/rational view of God, it makes more sense. After all, why would God create anything in the first place if he couldn't get bored? Why should we not be able to grasp God with our understand if that is where God originates? Ca ne marche pas.
What if he wanted to show love to others, since according to the Bible, he is a loving God? You can argue, "Well it is accept or die," but the Bible doesn't really specify when it talks about the afterlife so arguing for a hell or heaven doesn't get you anywhere.

The cause of want is discontent. How can a perfect being ever not be content? How could someone who inherently has everything want something?

Where does it say in the Bible that he has everything? He CAN have everything, but that doesn't mean he does.

That there is no God like in the Bible - some invisible old guy with a long white beard who spies on you to make sure you're not masturbating - is simply obvious to me. The judeo-Christian/Islamic god is just as much a piece of mythology as Odin and Zeus. The main difference is that those other gods were cool.

Points for god:

Once, there was nothing and the universe began, it actually started at some point. What triggered it?

After WW1&2 there was a disproportionate number of boys being born.

Against:

None of the religions are logical. And while they can give people peace of mind or encourage good behaviour they just don't make sense.

In conclusion: I'll live by my morals, if there isn't a god then tough for everyone.

I'm not saying it proves the existence of some sort of God, but in my mind at least it makes it a possibility, (whereas no religion I have ever encountered does). You [I]could[I] say the universe was created.

And I'd prefer it if you didn't come back with a one liner 'What created God?'

that's so absurd

God was "triggered" by man who was overwhelmed by his own mortality.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.
