The Hitchhiker's Guide series is possibly the best on the planet. I can't county how many time's I've read the series.
I'm a very irreligious person, mostly because instead of turning to god when I was five, I turned to science documentaries and whatever was up with Bill Nye. I liked to pretend religion didn't exist and I never really believed in god. |

I never had any reason to believe in god.
I do now and then have the feeling that I have some sort of contact with people who passed away and I also sometimes get the idea that I have some sort of clearvoyant (is that the right word?) capabilities. I seem to be able to know things I can't know and predict things I can't know. It's not too clear though, maybe it's just me being mad on my own .

knowing God is something you cannot ever do unless you give it a fair chance. And accept its possibility... I gave my life to the Lord a few months ago and it has changed my life 1000000% for the better. I love talking to him and spending time with him, because i love him. I know he loves me because i feel him in my heart when i speak to him or do an act of love. I know it is the Lord because what i feel matches with everything the BIble says. I cant explain the kind of love i feel but only ask that when you feel like youre all alone and have hit rock bottom, like i did, ask for him, and he will love you still, accept him as your savior if you so choose, and it will save your life. I say all this with love and respect and no one has to agree but if anyone has questions id love to have a friendly conversation on it

i'm agnostic because i have thought so deep to realize organized religion is a sham and atheism is for stupid lazy people. i'm agnostic because existence itself defies the very laws of existence. yea for sounding like a snob...
final argument: ignorance is bliss, remember that. |

And this is something you can say because you have intimate knowledge of the laws of existence?

I remember when I was about 8 or 9, and questioned God's existence for the first time to my mother. She didn't get angry or anything, but she took me outside. It was spring, and it was absolutely beautiful. All of our flowers were in full bloom, birds chirping, and a wild rabbit hopping through our yard. My mom just said, "How can you look at all of this, and not at least want to believe in God?"
Because of this, I've never been an Atheist, although I lean towards not believing moreso than believing. I read up on religion quite frequently, and I really do try to see everything completely objectively - which, unfortunately, has not proved horribly conducive to blindly believing as it were. Regardless, I sometimes look around at how beautiful things are, remember what my mother told me years ago, and think that yes, I'd like to believe that there is some divine being who put all of this here for us to appreciate, and that it wasn't just a coincidence. I just can't. |

To my mind, the idea that beauty in the world is somehow proof of a divine existence is completely naive on several levels. As a biologist, I can tell you that we know life does not evolve to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible. If it did, I could perhaps agree with you.
