Often times people develop bad feelings due to generalizations of race. This will sound awful but, when a dog mauls you, it's not something you forget. It doesn't mean all dogs are bad, but it will always be in the back of your mind no matter how many nice dogs you play with. First impressions can mean to world to people and often those first impressions are made from outside appearances. If you hear how a hobo assaulted someone, you are going to be wary of beggars as you cross them in the city.
