The issue isn't that there is tension. Tension existing isn't something that should be addressed by the higher ups until non-consenting parties are harmed and then the harm should be addressed as opposed to the racism. You should have the right to hold and express any opinion you want openly legally. If I hated some minority it should be my right to be able to let the whole world know I'm a jackass. Likewise I would feel a lot better if someone just got the fact that they have an issue with my whiteness out of the way right at the start. The real problem is people wanting to regulate bias.

Even if that were true (which it isn't) there is a very fundamental difference you are overlooking. Whites were free and could not be legally held as slaves.

I agree with that. I have a few friends who are extremely racist because of problems they have had with people of another race. A couple of my friends were mugged and threatened with knives by a group of somalians who were referring to them as 'white boys'. One of my friends has had many dealings with muslims, and listening to his stories nearly makes ME racist.

Does it?
Nearly?

Racists are cowards.
Don't generalise about a whole swathe of people ever.

That argument is disgustingly thin. Your friends who have based their opinions of an entire race from one encounter are just as racist as anyone else with a white robe and cone hat. An intelligent person would be able to recognize that there are horrible people of any race, and not base their judgements off of one encounter.

Oh, and your friend who has had "many dealings with muslims" is also a racist prick. I grew up in Saudi Arabia. Muslims are some of the most generous, thoughtful and truly kind people I know. I know many people who spent most of the year working in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and other arab countries. All say they love the people there.

Racists aren't cowards, they're just closed-minded. Whats cowardous about hating another race? I'm not racist, but every race does have a bad part to it that I dislike.

IMO it's not racist unless you hate another race based solely on the fact that they are of another race. If you have legitimate reasons to dislike an entire group of people then you are fully within your right to do so.

Hatred comes from fear. Fear creates irrational thinking.
Why hate a group of people?
Maybe they are not your type and you are not their type.
Lets face it, racist people don't live this way, they are proactive in discrimination which leads to problems for others and a snowball effect.
I don't care much for wrestling for example as I feel it is a simpleton pursuit but then on the other hand I wouldn't hold that against anyone as we are all entitled to be what we are.
That is what makes life what it is.
Racism leads to hatred and that leads to violence and that leads to misery.
