Well considering the fact he was at one point ahead of Clinton and Bush in the polls and had more then twice as much support as Paul I'd say he had a bit more of a chance then him.

Actually Perot was the front runner during the spring and early summer of 1992 and despite his temporary withdrawal from the race and his campaigns eventual collapse still finished with nearly 20% of the vote.

All other things being equal, yes, I'd rather have the candidate with more experience...but I'm not going to vote for someone who's against me on almost every major policy simply because they're experienced.

And re: the two party system; our system of voting is seriously flawed. The "one vote, one person" method all but guarentees that the two-party system will prosper. IRV voting, approval voting, and (preferably) range voting are all superior alternatives. None are perfect, but all encourage multiple parties and greater diversity.

There is really no good defense for the two party system. It cannot represent all views, no matter how generalized. In the end, because of the primaries and the "winner takes all" plurality vote, we inevitably end up with two uninsipiring candidates.

He would've never won enough electoral college votes and would have never become president.

Is this the first time that a political party has used sex appeal (as a primary motive) to entice votes? I mean, I know Kennedy had a good bit of sex appeal but he was also an experienced politician who came from a very politically-oriented family. It's a good strategy. But a morally cogent one? No, methinks.

On a sidenote, she was the mayor of my best friend's hometown. He is a Libertarian and he says that he'll still vote for her. :?

This is Why I Think Palin was such an excellent choice.

She lives in Alaska, which means she has more foreign policy experience then anyone. I mean she's right next to Canada, Russia and the North Pole.

She supported right-wing demigod Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.

She's a lifetime member of the NRA.

She a fan of capital punishment.

She's anti-gay marriage and even anti-gay couples to an extent, giving them no benefits whatsoever that a heterosexual couple would get.

She thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.

She'd announced plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisors to address the climate issues and reduce greenhouse gas emissions but after becoming McCain's running mate she stated humans aren't the cause of climate change.

Her energy plan is "Big Oil First" hell yeah!

She threatened to sue the government for listing polar bears as a threatened species. When asked about why she stated it would affect energy development (oil drilling) in Alaska. Oils>Polar bears.

She once said she was the most pro-life Alaskan candidate ever, she's opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest. She was asked what she would do if her own daughter were raped and became pregnant, she responded that she would "choose life."

All those qualities would make a very good vice president.
I was already voting for McCain, and now I'll probably stick with my decision.

He isn't a libertarian if he would vote for her. At this point, most libertarians chose Obama because we believe McCain is a greater risk of a loss of freedoms.

Well, TBH he has some very conflicting convictions. He's a huge stoner, but his family raised him as ultra-conservative as possible. I suppose teenage rebellion led him to those choices, but he still couldn't pass up the nomination of his town's ex-mayor. I mean, c'mon, Wasilla had what, 5,000 residents? And apparently his family knew her very well.

Did anyone see McCain's vp make that speech. I know I feel alot better knowing that the exploitive economic policies the US is going promote will be brought to us by a good ol American hockey mom.

Watching those mindless idiots flail about cheering on their team like they were watching a basket ball game was totally disgusting. I think alien vs predator’s main slogan "who ever wins, we all lose" seems to be very fitting.
