Both use Ja as a way of saying yes. I don't see the difference. You're just splitting hares.

I'm aware that they're cognates, it's just a dumb analogy.

I just think it sounds and reads pretentious as hell. I'm going to start using "well, yessiree" which is so much more down to earth.
