Couldn't agree with you more. You've summed the entire debate up perfectly with that last sentence.

It's like a 1st grade school fight. "I know you are but what am I?"

Listing the presidents of my lifetime, could you even begin to imagine Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., or Obama doing something so juvenile and reckless in a public platform? James Clapper was on today basically losing his mind over this.

The US has had 18 months of "Trump being Trump" and a large portion of the population either love it, or have become completely desensitized to it.

Dude is playing with fire. Unfortunately, 35% of the US population love the show.

Insane.

I'm no Reagan fan but he has to be rolling in his grave that his own party is playing footsie with "the Evil Empire."

And it's really scary when a sitting President can make you yearn for the days of Bush, Jr.

Agreed, but I will say Reagan scared the crap out of us at the time.

Even though the comment was leaked hours after he said it? Five minutes is way less than an hour quick mafs.

Reagan was using rhetoric like the Soviets being the Evil Empire so people were a little sensitive when the comment was leaked. We were still very much in the Cold War then so it didn't take much for the public to get into a panic. You can compare it into the hysteria after 9/11 for a comparison (albeit not a perfect one; 9/11 was of course scarier). Fortunately, Reagan was still President when Gorbachev became Soviet Premier and he proved he could also be a peacemaker. We can only hope something will click in Trump that maybe people will like him betteri f he did the same, but somehow I doubt it.
