I don't look at it like it's over there, nothing to worry about here. Sufis, Jews, Yazidis, Syrian & Coptic Christians are like canaries in the coal mine. What happens to them, will one day happen to the West ... and does happen with bridges, buildings and bike races.

TV travel guide Rick Steves to speak out today for legalizing marijuana in Illinois - Chicago Tribune
Rick is awesome. I hope he makes a little headway at least. I've been an advocate of turning that morally unbalanced law around for a long time, and I believe it could bring some much needed relief to the Illinois budget crisis. Of course people **** things up anyway no matter how lit the path to the doing the right thing is, but it's at least a move in the right direction and Steve has a loud voice in the matter. I've been watching Ricks shows for years, and I even made a song in tribute to the man and his show some years ago. I'll post it if anyone wants to hear it, but it's not that great. Go Steve, go.

It’s good that users get to stay out of jail but legalizing weed puts the only honest businessmen left out of business.

A few weeks ago, I was listening to his travel show on radio (Sunday nights here) and
he was talking with a woman about popular music in Germany over the past decades. I was pleasantly surprised about their combined knowledge concerning everything from schlager, krautrock, Neue Deutsche Welle, the Frankfurt hip-hop movement, Berlin trance, a.o. with mentions of the importance of Kraftwerk, Wolf Biermann, Can, Rammstein's connection with Slovenians Laibach, and ending with Trio's "Da Da Da." - all of this in the last 20 minutes of the show. It turns out that the woman he was interviewing was originally from Britain, but moved to Germany for the "scene." The woman was Robyn Hitchcock's daughter, Maisie. |

Yep, it gets clamped down hard as **** immediately in a way that only allows corporations or the wealthy to survive. While I'll take legalization, I'd prefer decriminalization and the nether-legalization that is California's and other looser states' medicinal marijuana system.
