You know what it means. You have a reputation, dude, like it or not. You're the resident conspiracy nut. This would be right up your street.

Thanks, Chula! Watch out for a guy who turns up with a rucksack full of tortillas and world music cds, ok?

Your tortillas and only your tortillas are welcome at my house. Bring all your Mexican hot sauces as well.

I didn't call you [MERIT]: I said I wasn't having a [MERIT]-style discussion with you about why I believe there's life in the universe other than ours. I know about SETI: if they didn't think there was a chance of there being life out there they'd shut that thing down, wouldn't they? Sure they even think it's possible life might exist on Europa, and life may have existed on Mars at one point. I can't see why you, or anyone else, would totally dismiss the possibility when the parameters of the search are so immense that there is no way it could be discounted as being futile.

I'm almost certain that the rare earth hypothesis is wrong and life does indeed spring up elsewhere around the universe, galaxy, and maybe even solar system. The point is there's no trace of any attempt to communicate, radio waves of any sort, or any sort of Dyson Spere type of megastructures. If the reasonable assumption is that humanity is not a one off the lack of evidence of our extraterrestrial cohorts suggests once they reach a certain point in technological advancement they soon die. There's other theories. What I'm saying isn't indisputed or rock solid but it's the conclusion that strikes me as the most likely. My assumption is we're following the same course and it sure seems like it.
