Your logic totally escapes me.

You say: "One side is 'clearly better' than the other."

Then you say: 'A vote for the 'better side' is still a vote for the status quo."

Then you say: 'Voting for the 'clearly better side' makes you a stooge."

Definition of stooge: "a person who serves merely to support or assist others"

So me serving, supporting, and assisting the 'cleary better side' by voting for them, is a waste of my time?

You admit that you are uncertain about whether my personal efforts will bear fruit - so I should simply give up on them, erring on the side of failure? My 2 kids share the ideologies my wife and I have nurtured upon them, and will impart the same on their kids. Unlike you, I'm not in the position to simply throw in the towel and resort to a life of cynical apathy - damn the torpedos.

Me too. The bull**** chest beating by indifferent idiots who can't accept the possibility that their friends and family will realize that they'd rather be playing Mass Effect than reading ****ty political blogs is as much of a hindrance to open, political discussion as anything else. Possibly even the biggest contributor. Which is why I say **** you all, I'm playing Mass Effect.

Voting for neoliberals who sell us out to Wallstreet implies to them that you support their actions. Both political parties support those policies to, at best, differing degrees. There are protestors who make it clear that at least some people don't, but the vast, vast majority do not make it clear, and therefore voting for establishment candidates is a vote of support for the establishment, because even if those politicians know that you don't support it, they know that you will still vote for them anyway. Your opinions are irrelevant so long as you keep voting for them.

****, as much as I hate Trump and the people who support him, his presidency is the closest we've ever gotten to a shift in the current political dynamic. Not that I think it will amount to anything, but it's something... I guess.

Typical, condescending response. Get some experience on your side and you'll understand, kiddo.

Again, you of all people, should stop using that tool to try and get the job done.

I'll add the word experience to the list too.

You could always shoot your kids in the head and spare them all this bull****. It's what a good father would do.

Afaic it's happening with or without my involvement so I'm not gonna beat my head against a wall. If I'm wrong then great, but I'm not the guy who's going to change the current reality anyway, so I'm still not gonna beat my head against a wall.

Ja, that's not condescending at all. You should've never been made mod.

here's a good story about not voting

earlier this year we had a provincial election. during the final 2 years of the last Premier's run, he decided that rather than investing in our failing education system, he would put money into the Bluenose II. a dated replica of a ****ing fishing boat.

anyway, eventually it was time for the teachers union and the government to renegotiate their contracts, and surprise surprise, no agreement could be reached as we couldn't afford any sort of financial commitment because education is less important than MLAs pensions Nova Scotia MLAs to get pension eligibility after 2 years - Nova Scotia - CBC News. this led to a battle that lated for months, work to rule, strikes, all that and more. great for the students, right?

so long story short, everyone hated the guy, complained about him 24/7. the election rolls around and... record low voting. guess what? he gets back in with a majority government once again!

great stuff.

OccultHawk 10-11-2017 12:33 PM

Would America be better off with Trump or no president at all?

Should leave the position vacant until the next election by a choice?

Oh look, humanity strikes again. And what if they did care enough to vote? Hitler did not seize power. He got elected. People are stupid.
