^ Yes, property owners are already protesting I believe, which is bad news for Trump. On the positive side, he might be able to outsource the drone surveillence contract to these guys:-

I guess this point has been made before but think of how much access to the Rio Grande we would have to give up. That's actually a great deal for Mexico, isn't it?

They can deny that they will pay for it but he has ways of doing it. There was something mentioned about people that send money home having to pay more and a hike on imports.

Couldn't they just use eminent domain. I'm pretty sure they will.

That's how the government seizes land so, yes, obviously that's what they'd do. Not sure I understand your point. My point was that, once they try to do that, the ensuing court cases will drag the process out for years and cause a shitstorm for the party who has rural landowners and people who despise federal overreach as huge chunks of their base.

^ Yep, and as Occult mentions, the US will presumably lose access to long stretches of the Rio Grande too. Also, because it'll be so tricky to follow the exact line of the river, I expect any new wall construction will take a smoother route, leaving lots of US soil in a no-mans-land between the wall and the river.
It all equals lots of bad publicity and is another example of an ill-considered promise that I hope will fail in the execution like repeal-and-replace.

^ I had to check with my son about that word; it's Spanish from Spain and means deliquents or rebels. (I posted the Skynet drone to make a satirical comparison between an inhumane, out-of-control dystopia and Trump's vision for border security. Perhaps it didn't come off right.)

^ I guess we'll have to wait and see how those schemes work out, dj.

They're probably laughing behind closed doors in Mexico saying America is going to pay for our wall.

Wasn't it only twenty years ago that the American president at the time said "Tear down this wall"???
