I remember them doing controlled burns back in the day. I also remember that if you fireproofed your house by clearing 100 yards of all vegetation, the fire department would give you $50 after an inspection.

Reminds me of people in my neck of the woods who build or buy houses near the naval airbase and then bitch about jet noise.
