If our essays weren't about how Burgess was wrong about free will, we failed the class.

We did read Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, and Hamlet. There is no way to make high school kids give less of a **** about Shakespeare than making them read aloud words they don't understand, broken up by a passionless teacher vaguely and unhelpfully explaining the language while refusing to even acknowledge any sexual content.

Luckily I had a great teacher for Hamlet. Romeo and Juliet not so much, but I did like me some of the dick jokes on my own.

I definitely had a better teacher for Julius Caesar, cause I clearly remember him teaching us all about Caesar's wife offering him a blowjob if he didn't go to the Senate.
