Frownland's talking points:
*yes, I saw where you revealed yourself to be blinded to any kind of dissenting opinion by nostalgia *if I come across as smart then the joke's on you *yes, nationalism is a symptom of autism. We may define the word differently though. *nah I'm just an ******* without trying but that really has nothing to do with this convo's legitimacy so stop trying to skirt the issue with ad hominem attacks *naivete is not a wise alternative to cynicism Quote:

Honestly, I wouldn't describe it as "an extremely diverse state". There are certainly less diverse states out there (read: Vermont) but Massachusetts really isn't particularly diverse. |

not really. for the most part it's obnoxious and unnecessary. try going anywhere in quebec (except for montreal) and speaking french and then watch how they treat if you attempt to speak english.

Frownland, of course.
French Canadian in the area where I grew up. Quebec is well known for being dickish towards anyone who's not a native.

tru and it's because of their overbearing nationalism. it might not always suck but it seems to me that a good 90+ % of the time nationalism is stupid.

What's the ~10% of nationalism you think is alright?

Cool thing about Merrimack Valley is that there's hardly anyone who's native to the area. Most everyone I knew growing up had grandparents who were immigrants from either Canada or Europe. So there was this cool melting pot kind of vibe.
