Way too many cases? The amount of false accusations related to rape is something like 4% of all cases. So no, it isn't way too many.

It's pretty hard to find numbers on this tbh. How do you think it can be fixed?

4% is too many. Not to mention how ever many more where the person still went to jail despite wrongful accusation.

The issue with numbers in this situation is they're going to focus on people who were found not guilty vs people who were found guilty. They can't take into account people who were convicted despite having done nothing wrong.

Well... I think that's a stretch. There's still an issue with the percentage of accused rapists who are actually convicted. I think it stems from the inability victims have to discuss the matter, and the fact that it can take years before they're comfortable enough to discuss it. I don't have any idea how that could be fixed, but ideally it would be great if it became something that could be more easily reported so that the investigations could begin much earlier.

I imagine the bigger issue is that unless the woman reports the incident and gets a rape kit immediately afterward it can be almost impossible to prove that the accused and the accuser even had sex, let alone that it was nonconsensual.

That's just silly.

I'm unsure as to how you'd take the question any other way.

So yes.

Eh. I am not going to pretend I'm brilliant and have all the answers. I don't. I have no idea how to fix the issue without limiting freedom. Which is something I'm way more against. Frankly, I'm just mad and bitching about something that pisses me off.
