K2 itself is not that bad people. Even when it was still legal, it was always paired with an assortment of other herbs and chemicals. That's where the dangerous element comes in.

This is exactly what I was talking about. K2 itself isn't dangerous, but the weather and adrenaline rushes that can come with it are. People associate the two because the media blames deaths and injuries on K2 itself without mentioning what actually did the crime.

Not that unbelieveable to me. There is another country that did the same thing and it worked very well.

South American country but can't think of the name right now off the top of my head.

Am I ignorant than? I thought heroin was one of the worst drugs you can get latched onto. How is it possible to kick an addiction by getting addicted to something else? It doesn't make sense.

The law thus allows the consumption of any substance (with the exception of cannabis, which now has its own rules) while penalising possession for purposes other than consumption. It does not, however, establish a legal mechanism for obtaining such substances or set maximum quantities for personal use – this is left to the judge's discretion.

Drug Laws in Uruguay
It was Portugal that decriminalized all drugs back in 2001.

However, as Greenwald concludes: "By freeing its citizens from the fear of prosecution and imprisonment for drug usage, Portugal has dramatically improved its ability to encourage drug addicts to avail themselves of treatment. The resources that were previously devoted to prosecuting and imprisoning drug addicts are now available to provide treatment programs to addicts." Under the perfect system, treatment would also be voluntary, but as an alternative to jail, mandatory treatment save money. But for now, "the majority of EU states have rates that are double and triple the rate for post-decriminalization Portugal," Greenwald says.

^That doesn't answer my question. How does it keep people from getting addicted?
