I was surprised when I saw his punishment. That's one hell of a fine. Perhaps it will shut some people up?

Probably not. Jones will be appealing it for years. The only real hope is that his reputation, and the other masters of alternative facts with him, will be forever reduced to pariah status.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The appeal thing didn't occur to me. My fingers are crossed that this decision will act as a deterrent to people who think like that.

Haven't seen anyone post this breaking audiophile news yet...

Yesterday, Washington Post published a piece titled, "How a Phoenix record store owner set the audiophile world on fire: MoFi Records claimed its expensive reissues were purely analog reproductions. It had been deceiving its customer base for years."

The news came from a YouTuber who on July 14th and 20th posted the explosive claim, which Mo-Fi later confirmed.

The article notes:

"By the end of 2011, 60 percent of its vinyl releases incorporated DSD. All but one of the reissues as part of its One-Step series, which include $125 box set editions of Santana, Carole King and the Eagles, have used that technology. Going forward, all MoFi cutting will incorporate DSD."

The original thread on the Steve Hoffman Forum from July 14 is up to 694 pages as of Aug 6th with audiophiles weighing in on the story.

So what do you think? Does this news in any way dissuade you from investing in Mo-Fi releases? Or are you of the mind that DSD does not compromise the integrity of the output?

Alec Jones is a mentally unstable ******* and I think his opinions are very wrong and very stupid.

But I'm uncomfortable with the idea that someone told what they believe was the truth- and now has to pay millions of dollars because of it. Is there maybe some legal mumbo jumbo about how this is anything other than that? Because the punitive damages would imply he intentionally lied. And I believe he believes what he says.

Alex Jones says every mass shooting is a false flag cause he wants to protect the 2nd Amendment, not cause he thinks any of this **** is true. He'll say crazy **** or make predictions one day and never reverence it again cause he knows it isn't true but it was convenient for his far right narrative on that particular day. He is the lowest form of scum.

Idk dude you ever watch him? He's like - certifiable. He's totally crazy. I think he believes this ****.

Is that what this trial is anyways though? He's being charged for being a liar? Because oy vey what a can of worms, I have a lot of people I'd like to put on trial. Some of them even knew damn well they were lying.

I think this whole fiasco has been a weird talking point because the guy sucks. And those poor parents, and my god those poor kids. And it makes you want to punish him.

But every court case is a potential precedent, and without a better explanation for my layman brain, I'm not comfortable with this one.

The jury obviously believed he lied intentionally. Otherwise they couldn't have nailed him the way they did. The judge could lower the damages, but seeing how Jones alienated her as well, I think that could be a stretch.

Surely the point is that, whether you believe it or not, you can't go around spreading **** like this without proper evidence and backup. I don't think your conviction that it's true, or that you personally believe it, matters: you can't just go ****ting on the deaths of kids and their parents' memories without facing the consequences. I don't think the fine was large enough: ****er should have got jail time. **** him and his whole unhinged ****ing cadre of followers.

He's nuts but he's also clearly faking all those weird outbursts for effect. He is not a good actor.

And he's being sued for defamation cause he called the parents crisis actors, says the kids never died, had a whacked out fake journalist stalk the parents, and essentially sicced his neo-Nazi fans on them. I mean not even essentially, he reported the address of one of the parents on-air.
