This isn't exactly random... the same reactions follow these sort of things every time they happen. And they continue to happen. You don't have to pay attention but those who do have a good reason to.

i thought so too but after reading about the incident it sounds like the kid acted like a maniac and got himself shot, and all this racial hype is really more of a counter productive distraction than a march towards progress. hopefully something positive like cameras on cops or whatever comes out of it but really there are way more important things to worry about and the president has to address this kind of ****... irritating.

For the record, when I said shut off all of the cameras earlier I meant all of the network cameras - which I truly believe are fanning the flames big time.
Conspiracy alert: After the verdict was read the other night it was pretty calm for about 30 minutes and then all hell broke loose. I can almost imagine a field reporter telling their lackey to go and pay some smuck $50 to light a car on fire so they'd get some juicy footage.

BBC Sport - Phil Hughes: Australian batsman dies, aged 25
This is a sickener. I don't watch cricket so I don't understand how someone can bowl a ball at you face on yet the ball hits the back of your head and kills you? That bowler's gonna be in bits hope he gets all the support he needs. |

The thing is, "freak accident" is kind of a misdirection (no offense Vanilla). Cricket pitches are around 90 MPH/144KMH? For comparison, baseball pitches are thrown that fast, and the last person who died from being hit in the head by a pitch was in 1920.
1920. Huges is, what, the second person in a couple years to die from a being hit by the ball? ^ that's a terrifying statistic. Something needs to come from this in regards to how cricket players are protected. Clearly, a helmet alone does not cut it. |
