Yes, the choice of words -- and what he says in the article is revolting. And he's a "professor of pastoral psychology". Heaven help us all.

The priest who officiated at my wedding was subsequently found to be molesting boys at the rectory. This was not disclosed to parishioners and he was then transferred to a very poor parish, where he molested boys again. I guess the bishop thought it was OK to put the poor kids at the "underprivileged" church at risk. Unbelievable.

Yikes. That's terrible! Unfortunately I think the whole is issue of transferring problem priests to areas where people are less likely to speak up seems to be pretty common. My in-laws, who are Jamaican, have a lot of stories about overly touchy-feely American priests who were transferred down there after getting in hot water in the US. Presumably the church is okay with a little abuse as long as it's in a small third world country where the victims have very little recourse. Disturbing stuff.
