Q: Why does America have so many mass murders? A: Because too many people hate everything about this ****ing place. Q: Why do they hate it so much? A: Because in one way or another they’re chronically abused and treated like trash. Q: Don’t other countries have large numbers of disgruntled people? A: Yes but America is the worst. Q: Even worse than China and Sudan? A: It’s about the same. Q: That’s hyperbolic and ridiculous! A: The proof is in the pudding. |

I feel like half the shooters we have might have been serial killers if they just had a bit more ambition
But being a serial killer is hard work Being a shooter is the easy way to wreak havoc |
I think they’re entirely different animals

I think a more accurate interpretation would be that they might have been spree killers if they were a bit more deranged and separated from reality, but the example set by previous mass shooters gives them something to strive for they wouldn't have thought possible before with limited imagination and motivation, and the increasing alienation of modern society gives them that boost in nihilism they need to take the plunge.

I'm speaking subjectively oblviously... I have no idea
But what was the last great serial killer that really caught everyone's attention? The DC snipers? Seems like most of the big names are from the past. Bundy. Dahmer, Gacy, etc. Yet almost all the major mass shooters are post Columbine. You had your odd case like the guy in the Texas watchtower. But it wasn't the thing back then. |

I mean one of the most prolific serial killers ever was a guy in the Soviet Union where the police actively suppressed information about his crimes because authorities didn't want to give the impression that something like that was even happening let alone that they couldn't catch the culprit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrei_Chikatilo |
