you were arguing that their rapid growth was evidence of the efficacy of their command economy. I'm not saying you are advocating for taking the soviet route, but you (and Wolff) seem to be using that rapid industrialization as a pro communist talking point.

Yes but so far they only have been shown to "work" as a way to rapidly industrialize an agrarian society by robbing the peasants of their farm yields. Which once again is basically a pretty meaningless achievement with regard to how to construct an actual, functioning communist utopia.
