What makes you think they couldn't if the conditions continued to change?

Your assumptions about capitalism are different than my assumptions because you and I are looking at different factors in 2019 (and beyond) and we judge them at different levels of importance/relevancy. I see advancements in biotech and AI and automation (areas I'm attuned to) as factors that reduce constraints and scarcity in massive ways, which solves some of the problems we are actually discussing in the last few pages. The "state of the union" is extremely complex, but interesting.
