I am not worried about an ass beating

If the other guy has a gun then my life is in his hands. That's the reality of it. You keep acting like it's paranoia but I've known people who were murdered.

Knowing how to defend yourself gives you the security that gun owners think a gun magically grants them.

I was being ironic with the karate bit, but if a gun is pointed at your face point blank, that's a much more vulnerable position for the shooter than you would think. You can wrestle it out of their hands and knee em in the crotch or try to slam their head into a wall during the process to incapacitate them. If they're across the room I highly doubt that they would be able to hit me tbh, I would try to split. My lack of faith in guns applies to when they're in the hands of another person too.

And they'll probably shoot you after you shoot them anyways.

Yeah it's really hard to shoot someone all the way across the room. Good point.

Any armed criminal worth their salt is going to stand slightly out of reach but close enough that they have the drop on you.

Any criminal worth their salt wouldn't rob a home with people in it. If self defense is naive then so is a gun.
